Tragedy in Japan

Hello Everyone!

I'm sure you know by now the devastation that has and is still hitting Japan. If you have not heard, a shocking 8.9 magnitude earthquake rocked this island nation. This in turn cause a tsunami to pound the shorelines and cause enormous destruction. Not only has Japan had to face the tsunami, a tsunami warning was sent out to the entire Pacific Basin. Even in Tofino which is on the west side of Vancouver Island, a weather watch was posted.

I watched a few videos of the tsunami and it's destructive path. The quake and the tsunami so incredibly powerful. Mother nature makes us look so small in comparison to her strengths.

I reach out and pray for Japan and all the nations affected by the tsunami. For those that have family and friends in Japan, I pray they are safe.

Angela mentioned how events such as these put things in perspective for us. The guy who cut you off this morning, your boss pissing you off, the kids making a mess...these are all so small in the scheme of things.

Now I don't usually bring up spirituality on my little blog but I feel the need to say something.

I believe that good can come from this suffering Japan is facing. I believe they can come together as a nation and help those in need. I believe they can rebuild and replace the material things that were lost. I believe those that passed away will not be forgotten. I believe it helps the world to be more compassionate. I believe it unites the world and shows love for a nation that we most likely don't even think about.

I know I don't need to say it but this is my little space to say what's on my mind. If you don't agree that's fine and I respect that but please don't hate, okay?

Have a great weekend everyone! I'm off to study and then write my exam on Sunday. Wish me luck:)

isn't this so horrible?! just looking at one pic puts everything in perspective. I had those same thoughts about getting stuck in traffic, my hair's messy, etc. None of that matters. Hug your loved ones and pray for Japan. I'm so sad for them but know they'll rise above and that we can help.

Good luck on your exam! You'll do great!

ahhhi got lost in tulle...i am such a tool...i totally wanted to mention the destruction in my blog post...

reading this post made me cry...my heart breaks for japan...and every other nation affected by the destruction.

when i was watching the news this morning and into the afternoon i couldn't help but to feel blessed...and ever so lucky...and this sort of natural disaster...or any disaster makes me realize how truly not important all those little things are...now i feel so stupid about getting upset about someone unfollowing me...who the hell cares about that...it's hard to think about anything else but our own stupid tragedies...especially when that tragedy doesn't even come close to what is going on around us...

god bless japan...and god speed to all those poor poor souls that lost their lives today...my heart, my prayers and my thoughts are with japan...

thank you for this post melster...you are such a lovely soul...

*hugs*

have a beautiful weekend...give the kitties a squeeze from their auntie nelly...

scary stuff. i worry about stuff like this because seattle is an earthquake zone. my heart goes out to the people of japan. it's so hard because there's not a whole lot concrete you can do besides offer money. i have to say I also worry for the dogs and other animals that get left behind or trapped in this situation.

it's so terrible, and it's not the first tragedy on this side of the world in recent months. my girlfriend is from New Zealand and her friends back there have been hit pretty hard by the quakes. thank you so much for sharing this post, couldn't agree more about the compassion and rebuilding.

Who the heck could hate you?! You have a completely valid opinion... one of which I agree.
I'm a spiritual person, or try to be, and agree that what you put out into the world will come back to you- good energy vs bad energy.
And hopefully we can create good with this horrible situation. Mother nature is not unforgiving but she does have some ways of showing us how to behave better.
